Hosting a guest should be fun, not stressful. Here’s some tips to decrease your stress and increase your enjoyment!
Whether you have a guest room or a simple fold out couch anyone can wow a guest with their hosting skills by simply being prepared.
While cleaning a house before a guest arrives is important, remember that they know you live there and everything does not need to be perfectly staged. The house should be clean but there’s no need to go into deep spring cleaning mode right before your loved ones come over.
Have the laundry done at least one day earlier, so that you have fresh, clean towels and linens. If you have guests regularly it’s worth investing in quality sheets - there’s nothing worse than staying with friends and sleeping on sandpaper. Of course we've had many guests sleep on Authenticity50 sheets and they've all loved them :)
We all have smart phones, iPads and other electronic devices these days - so easy access to outlets is important. Have a power strip ready near their bed. And don't forget to leave the Wifi Password for them. A world without Wifi... GASP!
You should have extra toilet paper and shampoo on hand. Make sure that the extra toiletries can easily be found in your bathroom. For an added touch use travel size shampoo and soap to make your guest feel like they’re getting a 5 star treatment.
Fresh flowers add a touch of class and color to any space. The day before they arrive sets out the fresh flowers and your house will brighten up instantly.
A fully stocked bar never hurt anyone - it's always good to have a few beverages on hand.
And finally, Enjoy! At the end of the day it's all about enjoying time with those special people in our lives.
